The Challenge...
Miko came to us part way through the peak trading period and said they had secured 1ft of space in various retailers around the world and challenged us to come up with a design for a one foot display to hold a robot, play a video and for the robot to be charged, work without moving and be secured to prevent theft.
The Solution...
We were sent a Miko Robot, we came up with a quick 3D concept which we turned around in 48 hours. The design had a base and header, the base had a plinth on it with a higher centre section to lift the wheels of the robot to prevent it moving and coming up through a discreet hole in the base was a security tether and the USB power cable. The robot was offset to one side to allow for a 7 inch video screen with speaker to play and be seen around the robot. The design also included the Miko logo to maximise brand visibility and create awareness. The design was approved, we CAD’d up the design for manufacture, we produced a prototype to test. The prototype was approved, we produced these in 3 locations around the world to the same drawings at the same time to facilitate to tight turn around and volumes required. They were produced in Europe, China and the US.
The Deployment...
They went into Toys R Us stores in Hong Kong & Malayasia, went into FNAC stores across Iberia and into InMotion stores in the US.
The client was very happy how we were able to get so much into such a small display. Solving this problem for the client led to additional work with other retailers including Harrods, Hamleys, FAO Schwarz and Arnotts.
The Result...
This was completed from start to finish in less than 4 weeks at the what is the busiest time in the industry, so no mean feat, but we succeeded and the client had a successful roll out and sales period which would not have been possible without the assistance of 25/8.
